Context:

Lloyd’s Brussels Finance is at the heart of the insurance business, leading the financial & capital management, analysis and reporting to securely fulfil all statutory requirements and add commercial insight & value.

Lloyd’s Europe is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assitant to join the team in Brussels. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the booking of invoices, performing bank reconciliations, and supporting the Business Accounting Manager with management information related to payments and invoices. This role involves working with both the Head Office (HO) and branches, utilizing two different accounting systems.

Role Purpose:

  • This role is to support the work of the accounting function across statutory reporting, business planning and finance operations, ensure timely and accurate posting to the LIC General Ledger and production of accounting returns.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Invoice Management:
    • Manage the booking of invoices from start to finish in two different accounting systems for both the HO and branches.
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of invoice entries.
    • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to invoices.
  • Bank Reconciliations:
    • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
    • Identify and resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and accounting records.
  • Support to Business Accounting Manager:
    • Provide management information related to payments and invoices.
    • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements.
    • Support the Business Accounting Manager with ad-hoc tasks and projects as needed.
  • Month-End Closing:
    • Participate in the month-end closing process, including manual journals, accruals, and booking.
    • Reconcile general expenses to ensure accuracy.
  • Audit Assistance:
    • Provide assistance during audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Data Integrity:
    • Maintain the integrity of financial data by ensuring accurate and timely entries.
    • Assist in maintaining an effective control environment to safeguard financial information.


Skills:

  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Knowledge:

  • Understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with bank reconciliations and invoice management.
  • Knowledge of month-end closing processes.
  • Awareness of audit procedures and requirements.
  • Understanding of data integrity and control environments.


Experience:

  • Proven experience in accounting.
  • Experience with managing invoices and performing bank reconciliations.
  • Experience in supporting financial reporting and month-end closing processes.
  • Experience in assisting during audits.
