The Role
A leading international organization is seeking an accomplished Senior Engineering Director to shape and drive its IT and engineering strategy. This high-impact leadership position oversees a global team of 300 professionals, with a core focus on enterprise-scale modernization, robust IT governance, and ensuring technology initiatives are tightly aligned with business priorities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in steering strategic transformation efforts, including cloud adoption, platform modernization, and performance optimization, while maintaining the highest standards of scalability, security, and resilience across complex distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a global IT and engineering organization, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational objectives.
- Define and deliver modernization initiatives, including cloud migration, microservices adoption, and API-first architectures.
- Oversee the development and security of mission-critical platforms and highly available, distributed systems.
- Implement IT governance frameworks and ensure compliance with international standards, regulatory requirements, and security best practices.
- Partner with executive leadership and key stakeholders to ensure technology efforts deliver measurable business value.
- Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and innovation-driven culture across global teams.
- Drive adoption of emerging technologies such as AI/ML and automation to improve efficiency, system reliability, and operational performance.
- Manage budgets, resource planning, and strategic vendor partnerships to optimize investments and outcomes.
- Champion Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies to enhance delivery speed, quality, and responsiveness.
Requirements
- Leadership Experience: 10 years in senior IT and engineering leadership roles, with proven success managing large-scale, globally distributed teams (300 members) and driving enterprise transformation.
- Technical Expertise: Deep experience with cloud-native technologies (Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, OpenShift), scalable distributed systems, and modern infrastructure.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to define and execute long-term IT strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Program Leadership: Strong track record of leading complex cloud migrations, platform modernization, and engineering initiatives.
- Security & Compliance: Advanced understanding of security frameworks, compliance mandates, and best practices in secure platform development.
- Team Development: Proven ability to scale and mentor high-performing global IT and engineering teams.
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional collaboration and communication skills to engage effectively with executive leadership and external partners.
- Certifications: Certifications in cloud architecture, governance, or security are a strong plus.
