Description

Aquatech Canadian Water Services Inc. is a privately held Canadian corporation established in 2004, specializing in management, operations, and maintenance services for both Water and Wastewater facilities. Aquatech Canadian Water Services Inc. is one of the largest private Canadian operations teams of Water and Wastewater treatment plants.

A Summer Student position will be available in Langdon, Alberta for May-August 2024 (approximate period). We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn about the industry, have strong problem-solving skills and are not afraid of challenging work.

Responsibilities

Working under the guidance of the area Supervisor and operators, you will be responsible to help in conducting the daily operations and maintenance for a level 3 WWTP and a level 2 collection system. These sites will include MBBR, SBR and DAF treatment processes, sewer lift stations, septage receiving station, storage lagoons and a Rotary Sludge Press.

The main responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Carry out the daily operation (regulatory monitoring and reporting process adjustments, chemical transferring and maintenance) of the wastewater treatment facilities assigned to you.
  • Conduct sampling and laboratory analysis, as requested.
  • Perform operations and maintenance tasks as requested by the supervisor.
  • Perform grounds maintenance and landscaping tasks.
  • Participate and comply with all aspects of the company’s health and safety program.


Hours of Work

The Summer Student position schedule will be Monday to Friday, from 8:00am to 4:30pm, but evening and weekend shifts could be required to cover the work requirements and employees’ vacations. However, travel to the work sites will be required. The primary work site will be at the Langdon WWTP.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 AB driver’s licence, a driver’s abstract will be required.
  • The position is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift 25 kg (55 lb) and stand for most of the day
  • Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Strong independent worker and team player.
  • Have a positive attitude and ability to take direction and feedback.
  • Having safety trainings considered an asset (H2S, WHMIS, fall arrest, confined space, etc.)
  • Candidates must be returning to school for the fall 2024 semester to be eligibl4
