Reporting to the Human Resources business partner, the HR assistant will be in charge of the following:
- First point of contact. Answers internal and external inquiries such as resolution of pay discrepancies/concerns.
- Establishes and maintains an adequate filing system and SAP.
- Prepares and maintains records of hourly rated employees including change of address, change of position and rate, absentees, seniority lists, etc.
- Handles all aspects of employment which includes such duties as preparing paperwork, indoctrinating new employees, recalling laid off employees, helping to arrange and conduct job interviews, prepares letters of job vacancy, and letters of reference.
- Prepares necessary paperwork w.r.t. hiring, retiring, WSIB and benefits changes.
- Maintains training records for hourly employees. Prepares correspondence and posts notices.
- Prepares and processes paperwork for short term disability.
- Assist business partner and hiring managers with hiring activities (interview)
Skills and qualifications
- New Graduates/ Currently enrolled in a post-graduate program focused on Human Resources Mgmt. 2 years. Strong computer skills.
- Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
- Working knowledge of employment laws
- Ability to manage time and prioritize work
- Demonstrated excellent communication and team player
- Desire to work as a team with a result driven approach
- Experience in labour relations would be an asset
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
