Front Desk Security Guard

Blackbird Security Inc. is looking to hire overnight Front Desk Security Guards to join our security team in Scarborough, Ontario.

You will play a crucial role in safeguarding our warehouse site and ensuring a secure environment for all stakeholders. Combining responsibilities at the front desk with regular patrols of the facility, you will be responsible for the safety and security at the site.

What you will do

• Assist site management with daily site opening and closing procedures, including monitoring and securing all emergency and dock doors.
• Ensure check-in procedures are followed by all staff, vendors, and visitors at the site.
• Review building safety regulations when people first arrive at the building.
• Maintain accurate visitor logs and issue access badges to all visitors, contractors, and temporary employees entering the site.
• Ensure only individuals with valid ID's are allowed access to the site.
• Conduct bag and employee checks for all employees exiting the site.
• Assist management with emergencies such as evacuations, power outages, fire drills and investigations.
• Consistently monitor the CCTV system.
• Receive parcels and provide access to couriers and delivery suppliers.
• Document incidents, observations, and security-related activities in detailed reports for review and analysis.

The Ideal Candidate

• Valid Ontario Security License
• Minimum of 6 months of security experience is preferred.
• Prior customer service experience is preferred.
• Prior experience in a commercial/corporate environment, with access control experience, is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills
• Willingness to be active and patrol if needed during the shift.
• A Use of Force certification is an asset
• Computer saviness and experience are an asset

• Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Scarborough, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

• Access Control: 1 year (preferred)
• Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
• Security: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Security License (required)
• Use of Force Certification (preferred)
