Duties

Reporting to the Food Processing Supervisor and working out of a Regional, District Office or licensed food establishment, the Food Processing / Multi-Program Specialist Inspector conducts food product inspections, inspects and audits food processing facilities, performs investigations in accordance with the enforcement of federal legislations and verifies the compliance of food processing systems based on HACCP and traditional methods to promote consumer protection, safe food and market access.

The Food Processing / Multi-Program Specialist Inspector will also communicate with industry and regulated parties regarding non-compliance and provide clarification to consumers, industry and other government departments on regulations and program policies.

The incumbent is designated as an inspector under the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Act.

AEx1 - Experience working in a federal, provincial or municipal government, or band or treaty council, or assembly of first nations.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Applicants who have not lived in Canada for the past five (or ten, depending on security level) years may be required to submit a police certificate from each country in which they have lived for six months or more during this period, as well as other documentation required for the security screening process. Failure to submit this documentation if requested will eliminate the application from further consideration.
