Gate Attendant
Canadian Rail Equipment Works and Services Inc. was established in 2012. Since then, we have expanded to offer railcar storage, switching services, and transloading services, among other freight rail services. CREWS also offers operating services providing in-plant switching and railcar placement. We are currently operating on multiple industrial owned infrastructures in Ontario, with our own switching crews and equipment to accommodate our customers’ needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Operating 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, Gate Attendant’s must be available to work days, nights, weekends, overtime and holidays as needed. Preemployment screening will be required, including but not limited to a Criminal background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
An Attendant is responsible for:

• Supervising site entrance and verifying all visitors entering the facility.
• Recording persons on-site, including arrival and departure times as needed.
• Notifying Operations Department or Office Personnel upon arrival of contractors, carriers, deliveries, or visitors.
• Providing directions within site for visitors as needed.
• Ensuring visitors have received and understand site safety guidelines before entering
• Organizing and relaying documentation for site activities to logistics department
• Maintaining good lines of communication with transloaders and site operators.
• Record keeping, filing system, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Perform any other duties as requested by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are a list of qualifications that must be met for this position:

• High School Diploma, or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer literacy (Outlook Office, Fillable PDF’s)
• Flexible schedule, including the ability to respond to coverage needs such as vacation and/or sick requests.
• Self-driven with the ability to work independently

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are a list of qualifications that are preferred for this position:

• Security Guard License
• Previous security experience
• Current and valid Standard First Aid & CPR C AED training.
• Post-secondary education
