As a Quality Assurance Officer, you demonstrate excellence in providing quality insight and recommendations using your financial prowess, to align with mortgage lending policy and regulatory requirements. We are seeking an expert that will focus primarily on completing residential mortgage reviews in accordance with Lending protocols and B 20 principles. If this is you, read on and reach out! What you’ll be doing Completing file reviews relative to key policies, processes and procedures. Providing the Underwriting and Fulfillment teams with the vital support to mitigate any file anomalies. Facilitating strategic Quality Assurance initiatives to achieve departmental goals by performing file audit reviews and regulatory reporting. Lead Quality Assurance Pre & Post-funding file audit reviews, documenting results and presenting observations and meaningful recommendations. Complete reviews within target dates and within policies, processes, procedures and quality standards. Use a common-sense lending approach and risk mitigation to guide you in decision making Complete regulatory reporting functions including OSFI, Suspicious Activity Reports, FDD reporting and respond to requests from Corporate Security, AML and Regulatory Compliance. Stay current with relevant regulatory requirements, industry leading practices, and risk trends. Provide overall Quality Assurance support to individuals in the Underwriting and Fulfillment teams, reviewing work performed by other staff members and provide mentorship and coaching as necessary. Assist the Quality Assurance manager in identifying trends and implementing operational improvement opportunities. Who we’re looking for & what you’ve done Foundational knowledge and experience to grow from: Undergraduate degree, preferably in commerce or business. Designation or certifications in accounting, mortgage lending, or audit would be an asset. Minimum of 3 – 5 years of Quality Assurance or Underwriting experience – or other meaningful professional experience in the mortgage lending industry. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications like Excel and Word. Skills and competencies that will take you further: Ability to mentor and provide recommendations in the area of Quality Assurance to internal partners. Knowledge of file review processes, methodologies and underwriting of mortgage loans. Excellent “People First” approach and relationship-building skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong decision-making skills, creativity, problem solving and analytical skills. Proven ability to multi task, manage priorities and meet service level agreements in a fast-paced environment. Ability to accurately and independently apply mortgage audit tools and techniques; such as fraud risk assessment, policy compliance and assessment of loan documentation.
