Position Overview
A Canstar dispatcher is responsible for scheduling new and existing jobs, dispatching technicians, and providing exceptional customer service and communication to customers. This fast-paced role is a key position in the efficiency and flow of emergency work and is well suited to someone with strong computer, organization and multi-tasking skills.
Duties and Responsibilities

Dispatch, coordinate and schedule staff

Update job board with work status
-
Coordinate/schedule entry and access with home owners, property managers and insurance adjusters

Coordinate/schedule sub trades and temporary workers
-
Display leadership, confidence and efficiency in scheduling. Know team dynamics and skill level, ensuring the right staff are on the right job

Review scopes and work orders to ensure they are complete and accurate

Assist with communication between staff and third parties ensuring complete documentation

Relay pertinent information to the manager, supervisor and administration staff

Email teams with job status updates and schedule revisions

Daily completion of tracking documents including; timecards, checkout forms and other necessary department documentation

Assist with regular reporting requirements

Record and file safety toolbox meeting notes
Health and Safety

Ensure that self and others adhere to Canstar’s health and safety practices and procedures

Ensure good housekeeping is kept to perform work safely and efficiently

Understand safety policies and protocols

Ensure that self and others on site are wearing all required PPE, when required
Who we are looking for:
You have a great attitude and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done and serve our customers. We have a fun and hard-working team and are looking for someone with the skills to complement them. Strong computer skills (MS Office: word, outlook) and experience in Dynamics is considered an asset. Experience dispatching or in a fast-paced administrative role with changing priorities. Experience in restoration, emergency services or construction considered an asset. Other important attributes of a future Dispatcher are:

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) with high level of typing accuracy

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
-
1 year experience dispatching in fast paced environment
-
2 years experience MS Office experience
-
Experience working in the insurance restoration industry (with exposure to materials, equipment, technology and safety) is considered beneficial

Experience working with a variety of structures (residential, commercial, institutional) is considered beneficial
Working Conditions

This position is based out of the Coquitlam head office
-
Travel to other Canstar branches may be required periodically
-
Monday – Friday, day-time hours 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Occasional overtime is required
