Role Description

> Summary

Perform a variety of routine and complex tasks associated with the installation, service and calibration of therapeutic, diagnostic or life-sustaining biomedical instruments. This position performs and manages operations on a day-to-day basis, collaborates and maintains positive relationships with customers, works to develop colleagues, and provides a communication channel between hospital executives and Christie Innomed Office. The Biomedical Site Lead also ensures that our services are in compliance with regulatory standards. This position includes a hands-on service component in general biomedical support.

Site(s): Northumberland Hills Hospital (Cobourg ON), Campbellford Memorial Hospital (Campbellford ON) 3 days per month.

> Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Technical Knowledge

  • Apply knowledge and experience of technology and/or equipment to oversee site operations.
  • Perform repairs and Planned maintenance on a daily basis.
  • Leads and directs supporting technicians when available.
  • Takes charge of customer contact and keeps RSM in the loop of contract on-goings.

Key performance measure

  • Manage Service Operations functions, such as service contracts and resources. Document the demand labor, demand parts, labor, contracts, labor, and parts.
  • Answer questions and meet with others to discern the root cause of technological/process problems.
  • Manage inventory of shop supplies;
  • Manage day to day operations and make sure open work orders are made a priority and that PM inspections are documented.

Account management and development

  • Build and maintain relationships with customers by employing interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Effectively collaborate with customers and vendors to develop win-win solutions.
  • Manage financial performance.

Job Requirements

> Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Biomedical Engineering required, Batchelor degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a hospital clinical engineering department, exposure to leadership, preferably in a clinical engineering setting;
  • Experience creating budgets an asset.
  • Technical certification such as A , CBET, CRES, CLES, or CCE a plus.
  • Ability to obtain Biomedical Equipment Technician certification by the International Certification Commission is required.

> Specific requirements

  • Ability to manage a facility’s equipment fleet with minimal aid
  • Experienced in Microsoft 365 applications
  • Experience with CMMS systems and their various purposes.
  • Knowledge of electronic circuits
  • Knowledge of electronic troubleshooting
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and illustrated part drawings of biomedical instrumentation.
  • Ability to operate in a sterile environment if necessary.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays if necessary.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to maintain neat and accurate records.
  • Working knowledge of physiology, anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Working knowledge of email, database management, spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Ability to perform basic financial analysis and calculate budgets, revenue, and costs;
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentational communication skills.
