Responsibilities

  • Execute critical daily processes to provide essential inputs for trades from the Investment Managers in separately managed accounts, with a focus on larger and more complex accounts
  • Supporting the Supervisor and being the first point of escalation for any issues or problems that arise during daily operations
  • Ensure correct and timely post-execution reporting of trades
  • Receive securities trades on a daily basis from Investment Managers, ensuring the trades are accurately and promptly matched and entered to the portfolio accounts' records
  • Perform reconciliations and identify, report and escalate portfolio security discrepancies
  • Participate in departmental initiatives and projects
  • Operate and support investment management and trade order management system
  • Work with traders/investment managers, and custodians/prime brokers to identify, investigate and resolve portfolio discrepancies, overdrafts and money market trade settlement problems; focus on larger and more complex transactions and issue resolution
  • Minimize risk and operational losses by adhering to established policies and procedures
  • Providing training, guidance, and assistance to team members with daily activities as needed

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Four years of experience in an accounting/operations related position; experience with mutual funds, securities/investments, cash management and reconciliation is preferred
  • Post-secondary degree in accounting/finance/business/commerce or equivalent
  • Successful completion of the CSC is preferred

Specific Knowledge & Skills

  • Familiarity with professional information systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office such as MS Excel and Word; Access would be an asset
  • Programming/development and data management skills would be an asset;
  • Strong attention to detail coupled with proven research and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment and deal with fluctuating work volumes;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Knowledge of applicable policies and procedures.
