The Opportunity
Recreation and Culture Services builds vibrant, healthy, active and connected communities by providing facilities and programs that give all Barrie residents an opportunity to participate in recreational activities. Key responsibilities include identifying community recreation needs and interests, developing and delivering recreation opportunities which meet these needs and interests, maintaining and operating recreational and cultural facilities to provide a setting for these activities, and managing the provision of space to external community providers and groups.
Under the general guidance and direction of the Supervisor of Recreation and Culture Administrative Support Services, the Allocation Administrator supports the delivery of services and programs for the Recreation and Culture Services Department. Specifically, this position acts as the first point of contact and liaison with clients for ice, field, pool, and room booking requests. This position is responsible for the allocation and scheduling of recreation facilities such as arenas, community centres, meeting rooms, pools, gyms, and sport fields. In addition, the Allocation Administrator collects, reconciles and processes transactions and payments for various recreation activities, such as facility bookings, program registration, membership fees and City services and programs. Additionally, this position coordinates payroll-related functions for the Department, which involves processing employee attendance sheets and preparing documentation to facilitate employee changes. This position performs a variety of administrative and office support functions for the Department, which enables a comprehensive delivery of services and programs to the residents of the City of Barrie.

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- One (1) year College Certificate in Office Administration or related discipline

Experience
- Two (2) years of experience performing duties related to the above-mentioned major responsibilities
- Demonstrated experience in an administrative and/or office support role including registration/ scheduling, and accounts receivable experience
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- General knowledge of administrative processes and protocols
- Demonstrated ability to:
- perform in a manner which is consistent with Corporate goals, vision, mission and values

- Intermediate computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word), recreation software, time and attendance software, and payroll software
- Availability to attend evening/weekend meetings or to work outside of designated normal hours per week

Location: City Hall, 70 Collier Street, Barrie, Ontario*
- Please note that the City has a Hybrid Work Program Policy in place that may allow for a hybrid work arrangement for employees who meet eligibility requirements.
Hours: The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week in accordance with the Collective Agreement
Wage: This position is within the CUPE Local 2380 Bargaining Unit with the following pay level and 2024 pay range:
- Pay Level: Level 3
- Yearly Salary: $47,884.20 to $57,330.00
- Hourly Pay Rate: $26.31 to $31.50
