As the Land Titles Officer, you will be the designated authority for specific authorizations and administrative functions related to land titles. You will provide technical expertise and support to Real Estate and Development Services (RE&DS) as well as other business units and external organizations regarding legal transactions, land title registration, and related activities. You will also investigate, resolve and report back on land transaction inquiries that require in depth research and analysis of historical documents. Primary duties include:
  • Review and provide consent for legal plans for all city subdivisions and land transactions as required.
  • Investigate, recommend, resolve, and report back on complex inquiries related to land transaction matters.
  • Provide training and coaching to Land Assistants, RE&DS employees, as well as employees across the organization as it relates to land title registration policies and procedures.
  • Resolve and administer land title issues on behalf of internal and external clients.
  • Draft and prepare easement agreements, review and provide consent for legal plans for City owned land, and withdraw and discharge easement agreements as required.
  • Prepare and execute Land Dedication Agreements for road rights-of-way for subdivisions.
Qualifications
  • A completed 2 year diploma plus at least 5 years of experience handling land office transactions in a land office, land development, legal survey or oil and gas environment.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand the development and planning process is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant Legislation and Bylaws is required for this position.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) is essential.
  • Experience with drafting and preparing easement agreements would be considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management skills, customer service orientation, and well-developed communication skills.

Compensation: Pay Grade 10 $40.08 - 53.57 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
