Reporting to the Chief Estimator, the Junior Estimator will be responsible for providing estimating services to support the Project Development and Estimating departments. Field experience is foundational for a career in estimating. The successful candidate will work as a Project Coordinator in our Operations team for /-2 years prior to joining our Estimating team. This will allow you to learn more about Clark Builders as a whole, and to become a more well-rounded Estimator. Refer to the Project Coordinator Duties and Responsibilities below. Following your time in Operations, as a Junior Estimator, you will be responsible for processing, handlining and distribution of various documents, drawings and tender packages as required by the team. The Junior Estimator will become a part of the Estimating team environment and complete estimating essentials to benefit the team as a whole. This may include quantity takeoffs, soliciting trades and suppliers for bid submissions, and updating database pricing. The Junior Estimator will maintain sufficient knowledge of in-house software to be able to operate all Clark Builders software tools. Junior Estimator Duties/Responsibilities: Monitor tender documents and facilitate their distribution to subtrades/suppliers as required. Contribute to maintaining contractors/suppliers’ relations. Assist in maintaining various databases. Prepare accurate and complete estimates. Assist in the preparation of proposals and estimates for final approvals prior to their presentation to potential Clients and at bid closing. Take part in project team meetings. Follow up with invited subtrades/supplier to confirm their intentions to quote. Maintain sub-trade/supplier contact information. Support Estimators with quantity take-offs and other tasks as required. Attend tender openings as required. Junior Estimators will be mentored by the Senior Team. Maintain career progression plan. Attend training courses as required by team leaders. Adhere to Clark Builders’ policies and procedures. Skills & Knowledge: Ability to manage multiple workflows and tasks concurrently. Ability to prioritize workflows. Ability to manage deadlines for completion of assigned tasks. Comfortable working in a team environment. Adapt to changing job requirements and directions from multiple sources. Ability to navigate software packages would be an asset. Knowledge of scheduling basics would be an asset. Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs both manually and electronically would be an asset. Communicate professionally through verbal and written methods. Qualifications & Experience: A Post-Secondary Certificate/Degree in Engineering, or the equivalent of a designated Professional Engineer or a Technical School graduate in a Construction-related discipline. If you are expected to complete your post-secondary program later in 2024, you will still be considered. We have a flexible start date for this position and can have the right candidate start once they complete their program. Project Coordinator Duties and Responsibilities: Supporting in project startups with responsibilities including but not limited to, tendering and bid evaluations, subcontract preparation, utilities and site services applications, permit applications, quantity take-offs, assisting in development of the project communication plan, and assisting in managing the project schedule Project execution and document control responsibilities including Request for Information (RFI), Site Instructions (SI), Submittals, Change Requests (CRX), Change Orders (CO) Project closeout responsibilities including assisting with inspections, owner training, managing the O&M Manuals, reviewing, tracking and communicating punch and deficiency lists, removing all insurance, closeout of utilities and site services, and removing temporary facilities Maintain the integrity of the QA/QC plan Facilitate, record and compile meeting minutes; follow up on action items Track productivity and performance of the project Project accounting basics Adhere to Clark Builders’ policies and procedures and aid others in compliance Support and grow ongoing trade partner and client relationships What's in it for you?
