The Opportunity:

With your high attention to detail, critical thinking abilities, and strong analytical skills, you will play a key role within the Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP) Budget team. In this Financial Analyst role, you will not only support the development of the annual Budget and Long Range Plan, you will also compile AOSP’s weekly forecast and support quarterly reporting for the Oil Sands segment.  In this role, you will demonstrate your excellent business partnering skills and your desire to understand the asset in order to drive continuous improvement of existing processes/tools.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure to the Oil Sands business while leveraging your strong analytical and critical thinking skills to add value broadly within the AOSP Accounting team.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Consolidate and submit the annual AOSP Budget and Long Rang Plans (production, opex, and capex) including submissions to AOSP’s Joint Venture Partners 
  • Centrally coordinate the budget process (e.g. develop & improve standardized templates/calendars/system inputs) & provide quality control against inputs received from various teams, in addition to performing ad hoc analysis as required e.g. bridging, reconciliations etc. 
  • Compile/submit AOSP’s weekly financial forecast to Corporate for input into senior management reporting
  • Provide AOSP input (including commentary) into Board of Director & Investor Relations quarterly reporting

What you Bring to the Role: 

  • Typically 5 years of related industry experience with University Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration
  • CPA Accounting designation, or in the process of obtaining CPA designation
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High attention to detail & a track record for accuracy
  • Strong MS Excel skills
