NATURE OF WORK
Assist handicapped students in participating in activities related to their schooling, under the direction of the school principals. This role involves supporting students aged 4–21 with significant intellectual and physical disabilities at REACH School.
DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:
Ensure the safety, well-being, and hygiene of handicapped students, including implementing instructions outlined in their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Accompany students to and from their mode of transportation and assist in their movement throughout the school day.
Provide physical support for transfer, repositioning, and mobility needs, including assisting students in wheelchairs.
Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other activities to ensure their safety and inclusion.
Support students with personal care, including helping with dressing, eating, and hygiene tasks such as diaper changing.
Work collaboratively with teachers to implement educational programs, assisting students in using materials during pedagogical activities.
Record observations and information required by teachers and therapists for tracking student progress.
Provide assistance to students with severe communication disorders, maladaptive behaviors, or concurrent diagnoses such as ASD.
Support younger students with global developmental delays.
Perform any other related duties as assigned.
STUDENT PROFILE:
The clientele includes students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities who benefit from a modified educational program. Priority is given to students residing within the Riverside School Board territory who meet eligibility requirements, including those with:

SALARY: Step 1: $23.85 to step 5 $25.44 per determined according to qualifications and experience.
