Schedule: 8 days on and 6 days off rotation with 12-hour workdays

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular washdowns of the wash plant, including the roof, walls, floor, distribution boxes, screens, and other equipment as needed.
  • Inspect, operate, and ensure proper flow of equipment, including cyclones, sieves, flotation cells, mag separators, spirals, screens, and chutes.
  • Conduct hourly checks on equipment, including the thickener, and adjust floc dosage based on settling rates and clarity.
  • Inspect conveyor systems, including belt alignment, idlers, pulleys, and general condition.
  • Manage banks of float cells, utilizing reagents and kerosene for optimal coal recovery.
  • Take samples of float tailings and float feed hourly.
  • Monitor the level of floc tote and arrange for replacements when necessary.
  • Perform drawdowns from clean coal cyclones.
  • Check pressures on clean coal cyclones, water-only cyclones, and heavy media cyclones and report any changes to the Control Room.
  • Operate and make adjustments to belt presses as required.
  • Visually inspect screens and screen sprays for loose bolts, springs, and proper balance.
  • Check and adjust weirs on the screen bowl distribution floor as needed.
  • Monitor the high-frequency screen for blinding and clear recirculation.
  • Inspect deslime screens for proper flow, loose bolts, and spring operation.
  • Check running screen bowl centrifuges for oil leaks, noise, and vibration.
  • Collaborate and report all issues with the Plant Supervisor and Control Room Operator to ensure smooth operation of equipment.
  • Collaborate with other operators and work together to support plant operations.
  • General cleanup, clearing plugged or frozen chutes as required.
  • Add magnetite to the plant circuit as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Previous experience in industrial or mining environments is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience operating support equipment such as utility loaders and skid steers is considered an asset.

Technical Competencies & Skills

  • Must be able to work 12-hour day and night shifts; on a 7x7 rotation.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Physical fitness to perform labor-intensive tasks, including working at heights and in tight areas.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to various work conditions.
  • Effective and respectful communication with colleagues, trainees, and leadership.
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of plant operations, circuit flow and equipment.
  • Ability to conduct equipment inspections, operate, maintain, and make adjustments to equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and energy isolation procedures.
  • Effective communication skills for teamwork and coordination colleagues.
  • First Aid/Mine Rescue Training is considered an asset.

Hourly rates for Plant Technicians ranges from $34.03 to $41.52 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
