The County is seeking a permanent full time Utilities Operator. Reporting to the Utilities Foreman, the successful candidate will assist with the daily operation and maintenance of the County of Wetaskiwin’s water/wastewater systems. Regular hours of work are eight (8) hours per day Monday to Friday commencing at 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the requirement to be on a rotational on-call schedule as required.

Required Skills

  • Achieved Provincial Certification Level 1 or greater in Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment, Wastewater collection; or
  • Achieved a Journeyman Certification as a Plumber, Electrician, or Instrumentation and Control Technician; or
  • Achieved a Certificate as a Water and Wastewater Technician through a qualified technical institution.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.
  • Hold a Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Demonstrated an ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Have a demonstrated ability for being self motivated, organized, safety conscious, mechanical aptitude and good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Be physically fit; able to lift up to 50 lbs and able to work in an outside environment.
  • Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills, with the ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing are essential.
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Driver’s Abstract.
  • Experience in GIS operations and Asset ID software is an asset.
