CTS Youth Society is a non-profit organization located in Burnaby, BC. Our mission is to connect every youth in Metro Vancouver with their natural environment and their community. We bridge the gap between youth and their local nature via our outdoor summer camps that run in four Metro Vancouver Regional Parks. For over 20 years, we have been instilling a lifelong love of nature in youth through hands-on, life-changing outdoor experiences. Role Description (s)

We are hiring for 3 different roles: Overnight Camp Counsellor, Daycamp Counsellor, and Program Supervisor. These are full-time on-site roles as Camp Counsellors/Program Supervisor at CTS Youth Society in Burnaby, BC. There will be on site work in other Regional Parks, including Tynehead, Capilano River, and Pacific Spirit Regional Parks. As a Camp Counsellor/Program Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to camp participants, organizing and supervising camp activities, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all campers. You will also have the opportunity to create a positive and inclusive environment for campers to learn and grow. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with youth in an outdoor setting. See ctsyouthsociety.com for more specific job descriptions.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children and youth in a camp or outdoor education setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with diverse individuals
  • Passion for the outdoors and the ability to lead outdoor activities
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain certification prior to employment)
  • Knowledge of environmental education and sustainability principles is a plus
  • Ability to handle and resolve conflicts or challenges that may arise during camp activities
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing camp schedules and environments

Contract length: 3 months

Salary: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
