Criminal Defence Lawyer

The Position

This is an excellent opportunity to join our criminal defence team. Your duties will include interviewing clients, research, conducting pre-trial meetings, conducting bail hearings, guilty pleas and trials and assisting on complex trials. You will also be part of our appellate practice and be expected to prepare first drafts of factums. You will do all this in a supportive environment designed to allow you to flourish.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• Up to two years experience in criminal law
• Recent graduates who will be called to the bar this spring/summer are welcome to apply
• Must be able to demonstrate an interest in criminal law/social justice
• Excellent written skills essential
• Ability to work effectively in a team
• Ability to speak French is an asset but not essential
