Key Responsibilities:
- Secure building, as required.
- Unlock/lock exterior/interior doors and turn on/off lights.
- Check inside and outside facility for mechanical and heating problems, vandalism, and removing graffiti as required.
- Responsible for all basic cleaning in and around the building.
- Floor cleaning, sweep, mop, wet mop, wash, polish and buff as required – hallways, gym, program rooms, washrooms, storage rooms, offices and staff rooms.
- Vacuum carpets in program rooms, offices, and entrances as required.
- Monitor and clean washrooms daily including restocking dispensers, emptying trash, cleaning and sanitizing fixtures, cleaning mirrors, spot cleaning partition doors and walls, sweeping and mopping tile floors and cleaning toilets and urinals.
- Dispose of garbage and replace garbage bin liners on a daily basis in program spaces, washrooms, hallways, entrances, and on grounds.
- Clean glass in doors and entrances and dust furniture and appliances as required.
- Clean and run all fountains/refill stations.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitization and plumbing.
- Set up, stock, organize, maintain, and monitor cleaning equipment and supplies and report products that need to be ordered to Supervisor.
- Minor repairs and maintenance.
- Safety, check fire extinguishers and battery levels on emergency lighting monthly and maintain Fire Log Book.
- Clean light fixtures and bulbs while replacing burnt out lights as needed, and clean radiators, windows, fan filters, lockers. Scrub walls, washroom partitions, desks, chairs and other furniture, shelving and ledges.
- Shovel snow and salt entrances as required.
- Liaison with the Executive Director, Staff, Students and Volunteers responding to requests and concerns.
- To keep an open and clear communication with your direct Supervisor.
- To uphold and follow the Eva Rothwell Centre’s Mission, Vision, Values, and policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Goals:
To provide a clean and safe environment for students, staff and visitors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals.
- Comfortable with exposure to noise, dust, garbage, dirt, chemicals, and temperature extremes when outdoors.
- Must be comfortable wearing personal protective equipment including face mask/shield, gloves and physically able to stand for long periods of time, lift, bend, and operate cleaning equipment.
- Comfortable using vacuum, wet/dry vacuum, mops, brooms, basic cleaning and maintenance tools.
Education/Experience:
- Commercial/Industrial Cleaning Experience.
Special Requirements:
- COVID-19 Full Vaccination required (prior to start of employment).
- Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Reference Check.
- Current Standard First Aid Certificate.
