You’re ready to take on the challenge of working on our AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) Project where you will be part of a team building a more reliable natural gas system for our more than one million customers across British Columbia? The Gas AMI Project represents one of the largest Major Projects in FortisBC’s history as we upgrade all our gas meters to implement automated technologies that will improve the safety, resiliency, sustainability, and reliability of our natural gas system.
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Controller to join our AMI project team. This long-term temporary position will report to the Project Director, Planning & Governance and will play a pivotal role in collaborating with the project leadership team and Vendor Project Managers.
On top of your proactive and detail-oriented approach, you will be involved in crafting, monitoring, and steering the project's master integrated schedule. Embrace the challenge as you support progress, master the project risk repository, and contribute to the pulse of financial, performance, and compliance reports.
In this role, you will:
Collaborate with the Project Director to monitor project management tools and standards.
Support detailed, integrated planning for the project, ensuring contractual commitments of vendors are considered.
Monitor and manage project management plans, policies, procedures, and reporting practices.
Analyze and monitor project performance, key decisions, issues, and risks.
Support the preparation of reports for the Gas AMI project and attend governance meetings.
Actively participate in project audits and coordinate responses with senior leadership.
What it takes:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, information technology, or finance, with 4 to 7 years of portfolio, program, or project management experience.
Experience in developing complex project plans using tools like MS Project.
Experience in developing/implementing project governance models, standards, and templates is an asset.
Innovative problem-solving and good judgment skills.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships in a complex environment.
Strong leadership skills, including team building and conflict resolution.
Ability to be self-directed, managing multiple priorities with a positive attitude.
Effective project management skills, detail-oriented with the ability to forecast project budget and milestones.
Proficient in risk management, including assessment, monitoring, and mitigation.
Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
