Maintenance Technician

Job description

GFR Ingredients processes and manufactures premium, plant-based ingredients. We are currently seeking to hire a Maintenance Technician to join our team based in Barrhead, Alberta.

Main Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

• All aspects of the general maintenance of the facility; including electrical, construction and mechanical.
• Safety - ensure maintenance practices comply with Work Safe Alberta.
• Organize workload regarding maintenance schedules and regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities.
• Complete work in accordance with fire & building codes; GMP & SOP's.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices during the installation, set-up, and repair of machinery.
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Participating in Preventative Maintenance as well as any other required duties requested of the Maintenance Team.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Hold a ticket in a related field, or currently enrolled in a millwright program (any year of apprenticeship will be considered).
• Must be Fluent in Writing, Reading and Speaking English.
• Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent Computer Skills; Maintenance Software, MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong Organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Skill Requirements

• Easily Handle and adapt to ever changing and stressful environments.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work efficiently within timelines and deadlines.
• Proven success as a team member and working in a team orientated environment.
• Food industry experience will be considered an asset.
• Class 4 Boiler ticket or willing to acquire will be considered an asset.

Physical Requirements

• Must be Physically Fit
• No Problems with lifting or carrying 50 lbs or more.
• Must be able to stand/walk on concrete floors, taking stairs etc for 12-hour shifts.
• Must be willing and able to wear all PPE required for working in a Food Processing Facility.
• Work 12 Hour Shifts, on a 4 on 4 off Basis.
• Pay is related to the amount of Training, Tickets and Experience the applicant has.
• Must be willing to relocate to Barrhead.

**NOTE: Applicants must have a Minimum of 2 Years of Valid Open Work Permit from the time of hiring (Expiring no sooner than March of 2026, Send a Copy of your Work Permit with your resume) or be a Canadian or Permanent Resident. We are not able to consider any LMIA applications for this position**
