The Fish and Wildlife Branch is looking for a flexible team player that is highly motivated, results oriented and committed to effective land and natural resources management. The key role of this position is to administer the Fish and Wildlife Development Fund, track expenditures and revenues therein, conduct database and GIS data management, as well as provide support for the Waterfowl Crop Damage, Big Game Damage, and Problem Wildlife Programs.
As part of the Biodiversity Analytics and Conservation Unit, the successful candidate will be responsible for provincial fur statistics coordination, provincial problem wildlife equipment inventory control, issuance of special permits, administration of the Provincial Trapper Education Program, and conduct any GIS analyses related to this work as required.
To qualify for this position, you will have knowledge of renewable resource management, legislation and policy. A thorough understanding of decision-making processes and qualitative and quantitative research methodologies with regard to natural resources is required. Our candidate of choice will be detail oriented, analytical, and diplomatic in their approach to resolving issues.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through a diploma or degree in geography, land use planning, natural resource management, public policy, resource economics or related fields of study and several years of progressively-responsible experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
