Responsibilities include

• Build and maintain detailed financial models for base and precious metal mining companies;
• Coordinate, generate, and maintain sector-specific databases;
• Conduct company, industry, and macro-economic research;
• Liaise with sales and trading (both institutional and retail), external institutional clients, and corporate finance to help provide industry and investment insight;
• Assist in providing in-depth company and sector analysis and commentary thereon;
• Prepare research reports for publication which focus on relevant news and events, and subsequent implications on buy/sell/hold recommendations and target prices;
• Provide other support to the analyst as required.

Education & Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree (Finance, Accounting, or other Business degree preferred);
• CFA or CPA designation, or enrolment in the relevant program, would be considered an asset (minimum CFA Level 1);
• Extremely strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to create and maintain robust models;
• Excellent PC skills in the remainder of the Microsoft Office suite, as well as in sourcing internet-based data;
• Previous experience using ThomsonOne, Bloomberg, Capital-IQ is desirable.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Self-starter that can work independently;
• Ability to work in a demanding, pressurized, and fast-paced work environment, sometimes for extended periods of time;
• Commitment to timelines and attention to detail is crucial;
• Previous experience in equity research, geology and/or mining engineering would be helpful;
• Understanding of financial/equity analysis particular to mining companies would be an asset;

Job Details

Status: Permanent full-time

Location: Vancouver

Schedule: Monday to Friday with overtime as needed.

Compensation: Base salary range of $60,000 to $80,000 dependent on experience and qualifications, plus quarterly bonuses.
