Position Highlights

ICBC is hiring a Digital Content Writer/Editor with proven experience writing in a customer-centric environment for digital channels. This is an opportunity to make an impact by creating friendly, useful information for a range of external and internal audiences, including ICBC’s customers, business partners and employees.

We are looking for a talented professional with a passion for writing and editing, who understands customer-centric communications for large corporations and/or government, and succeeds in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has a meticulous attention to detail, the skills to coach and guide content authors from other business units and review their work prior to publishing, and a drive to make content straightforward and usable. On any given day you could be writing service-related content for icbc.com, training distributed authors on writing for our intranet, or providing micro-copy for our online services. (Please note, this position does not work on our social media channels.)

If you have a highly attuned understanding of best practices in web content, including usability, information architecture, search engine optimization and accessibility, this is an excellent opportunity to advance your skills in a purpose-driven organization.

Core Duties And Responsibilities Include

  • Create clear, compelling copy to engage and inform internal and external audiences, in consistent and appropriate styles across digital channels – primarily focusing on our websites and online services
  • Author and publish content using our content management systems (including Sharepoint and Contentful)
  • Edit and adapt source material for publishing online, adhering to best practices for target channels and audiences
  • Train, coach and support distributed authors throughout the company on web writing best practices, ICBC standards for content, and authoring in SharePoint and Contentful
  • Help to maintain consistency in design, terminology and tone of content, as well as compliance with brand standards and best practices
  • Interpret client requirements and develop content solutions to meet business objectives and audience needs
  • Maintain governance processes for content, including scheduled audits and reviews
  • Work effectively on cross-functional teams

Position Requirements

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of writing and editing for digital and other channels
  • Experience writing, editing and publishing content using content management systems
  • Experience supporting and training a network distributed authors
  • Familiarity with online measurement strategies, tools, and technologies
  • Experience in maintaining brand standards and style guidelines
  • Ability to multi-task, work to tight deadlines, and adjust priorities according to changing demands and schedules
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

We are looking for a dynamic writer and editor with strong interpersonal and communication skills. A proven track record of success with several years of related direct and indirect experience is required.

The above requirements would typically be met through completion of post-secondary education in content, UX, communications, business writing and/or journalism, and 2-4 years of related experience.

Work Arrangement Defined

  • Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.

Salary

The salary range for this position is $67,048.80 to $72,399.60 annually.
