Position Highlights

We have a temporary six (6) month vacancy for a customer service oriented Mail Clerk to work out of our North Vancouver Corporate Head Office. You have the physical capability to lift up to 40 pounds and strong organizational skills. You will be responsible for receiving, sorting, opening and distributing incoming mail. In addition, you will receive, categorize and prepare outgoing mail for collection.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Shipping and receiving all incoming and outgoing courier shipments. Maintaining courier files for tracking purposes.
  • Sorting and delivering incoming mail, parcels, and other materials
  • Maintaining appropriate records regarding postage, registered mail, certified mail, parcels, and other mail requiring special handling
  • Responsible for managing supplies
  • Maintaining and ordering equipment and supplies for facility operation
  • Troubleshooting problems with malfunctioning mailroom equipment, and placing service calls when necessary
  • Canada Post and courier knowledge would be an asset
  • The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills and enjoys working in a close-knit team environment, as you will be joining a small but integral department within ICBC.

You will be required to lift boxes, files, office supplies, mail bags and bins, to walk for prolonged periods while delivering material throughout the building, and to push mail carts. For most of the day, you will be on your feet.

Part of your day-to-day responsibilities will include responding to inquiries from customers regarding mail services and procedures, gathering detailed information from customers necessary to carry out daily duties, and most importantly, providing courteous mail service for customers.

There will be exposure to equipment noise when opening and sealing mail and exposure to dirt when handling mail bags and sorting contents.

Position Requirements

The above requirements would typically be acquired through completion of high school and some related experience.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment based on the job requirements.

Position Information

The salary for this position is $26.08 hourly plus 19.2% in lieu of vacation and benefits.
