GIS Specialist

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled GIS Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and demonstrate proficiency in data collection, management, and analysis. This role is essential for supporting various projects that require spatial data and mapping expertise. The GIS Specialist will work collaboratively with other departments to build and maintain comprehensive databases that enhance our operational efficiency.

Duties

• Utilize GIS software such as ArcGIS to create, analyze, and manage spatial data.
• Conduct data collection through field surveys and integrate findings into existing databases.
• Develop and maintain detailed maps and visual representations of geographic data.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate CAD tools, including AutoCAD, into GIS workflows.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of GIS databases by performing regular updates and quality checks.
• Provide technical support for GIS-related inquiries from team members across various departments.
• Assist in the development of training materials and conduct workshops on GIS tools and best practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum Technical Diploma in Piping, Mechanical, Civil, or Urban Planning.
• Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS) and experience with CAD applications (AutoCAD).
• Strong skills in data management, including experience with databases.
• Ability to perform detailed data analysis and present findings effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
• Prior experience in data collection methods is preferred but not required.
• Prior experience in natural gas utility is considered an asset.
