This role contributes on the Technology & Innovation team by leading efforts regarding Kindred’s IT security risk framework and practices. Key responsibilities include: maintaining a current and proactive IT security strategy and ensuring that the initiatives and responsibilities within the strategy are carried out; identifying and ensuring implementation of best practices for IT security management; ensuring ongoing compliance with IT risk regulations; and collaborating with Risk and other stakeholders for business continuity and disaster recovery planning.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Serves as Kindred’s IT Security Officer by:
    • Cooperatively with all operational departments, leading Kindred’s efforts to maintain a high priority on protecting and safeguarding Kindred’s proprietary and confidential data as well as the private member data to which Kindred is entrusted;
    • Managing Kindred’s IT Security Program, ensuring that appropriate controls are utilized;
    • Chairing the IT Security Steering Committee, developing a cross-functional and high-level shared responsibility for Kindred’s IT security;
    • Researching industry trends and regulatory changes, and coordinating changes to Kindred’s IT security posture accordingly
  • Ensures that Kindred utilizes strong security measures, especially for online banking platforms, payment gateways, and financial transaction systems.
  • Leads efforts to address security incidents, such as data or security breaches, or (non-banking) fraudulent activities.
  • Maintains a proactive IT security posture and coordinates Technology & Innovation’s preparation for and participation in regular security audits and relevant risk assessments, reviewing controls, identifying vulnerabilities, and assessing potential threats.
  • Collaborates with the Chief, Technology and Innovation to ensure clear and accurate IT security reporting to the Audit and Risk Committee of Kindred’s Board of Directors.

You are a motivational and effective leader in the Technology team, with strong mentoring, coaching, and collaboration skills.

Plus, you bring your qualifications and experience:

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science or Technology, and
  • 4-6 years of experience in IT security
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security frameworks or standards such as CIS 18, NIST and ISO 27001
  • Working technical knowledge of system vulnerability scanning and remediation, security information and event management, and other key IT security management activities
  • Strong understanding of computer systems and networks, and their administration
