ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
This role reports to Faculty Member.
SUMMARY
The Research Assistant primarily engaged in research with secondary materials will assist faculty or members of the Dean's office with various research projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Research, editing and typing of academic journal articles and books
Develop and maintain files on issues related to the current project
Do library and online research as required (e.g. review current literature, statistics, legal research, academic journals, surveys, online databases, etc)
Research, compile data and write short essay to be incorporated into a variety of Faculty purposes
Prepare summary reports including headings and information which can be subsequently used to draft briefing notes or craft PowerPoint presentations
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must be of Indigenous Heritage and pursuing a KPU Bachelors degree
Preference will be given to applicants from a nation that participates in the All-Native Basketball Tournament
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision
Demonstrated strong attention to detail and quality deliverables
Ability to use MS Office tools, including databases for tracking or qualitative and/or quantitative studies
Good interpersonal, organization, research and written skills
A professional and positive attitude
Knowledge of the research area
*Salary Information
Student Assistants are paid as per the following:
Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) - BC Minimum Wage
One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) - BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
With a post-secondary diploma or degree - BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
