The Opportunity
Lacombe Regional Waste Services Commission (LRWSC) has a great summer opportunity for an individual who wants to work outside performing a variety of tasks. The Summer Labourer will carry out a variety of landscaping and clean up duties as well as assist the transfer station site operators. This position is from approximately April 29, 2024 to August 30, 2024.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate basic hand and power tools as well as light machinery as required (pickup truck, ride-on and push mower, weed eater and other related equipment).
- Assist in directing and educating customers in proper waste disposal methods.
- Assist in changing out the bins.
- Assist with the mattress recycling program.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the site.
We're looking for an individual who:
- Enjoys working outdoors in various weather conditions and is able to perform lifting and moving of objects of up to 80lbs.
- Enjoys performing a variety of tasks (general site maintenance, mowing grass, assisting customers) and helping out co-workers when required.
- Is able to carry out verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with co-workers.
- Has previous light equipment experience (preferred).
- Has own transportation and a valid class 5 driver’s license- an acceptable driver’s abstract is required.
Lacombe Regional Waste Services Commission owns and operates five solid waste facilities within the Lacombe County boundaries. The transfer sites are located at Eckville, Bentley, Spruceville, Alix/Mirror and Prentiss. This position is at the Prentiss site and is Monday to Friday (with occasional Saturdays) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Hourly rate: $22.12/hour 6% vacation pay, 5.2% stat. holiday pay.
