Keeping Ontario’s Legislative Assembly running smoothly takes many talented people, doing many different jobs—from camera operators and committee clerks, to purchasing officers and researchers. The Office of the Assembly is mandated to provide non-partisan support to the Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs).

Together, we provide administrative and procedural services to all MPPs, as well as operational support for the daily activities of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The Legislative Assembly of Ontario seeks a Policy and Compliance Analyst, who, as part of our Legislative Protective Service will be responsible for researching and reviewing existing policies and procedures along with conducting audits for quality assurance. The position designs, develops, and implements a monitoring and evaluation framework for policies, procedures, initiatives, and projects to enhance public safety and facilitate ongoing improvement in service delivery.

What You’ll Do

You’ll act with integrity to:

  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and independence
  • Use tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive issues

You’ll support our community as you:

  • Provide specialized expertise and advice to senior management in researching and recommending revisions to existing policies or creating new policies, practices, and procedures related to situations and/or events within the Legislative Protective Service
  • Apply an established document standard format for all policies and procedures/guidelines
  • Develop key performance measures to determine the effectiveness of policies/standards and follow a review cycle to ensure the accuracy of information
  • Develop a plan for implementation of new/revised policies and ensure websites are updated accordingly

How You Qualify

You demonstrate excellence through your:

  • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Arts degree or higher education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience such as research, analysis, report writing and presentation.
  • Exceptional research skills and the ability to extract pertinent information into a concise operational policy that can withstand legal scrutiny if necessary.
  • The ability to read legislation and develop policy.
  • Knowledge of the general functions of the OLA and LPS
  • The ability to analyze technical information.
  • Consultation and interpersonal communication skills.
