Summary:
We are seeking a qualified IT Helpdesk Technician that will assist with installing and maintaining our computer systems and networks aiming for the highest functionality. This individual will also train users on the systems and ensure they make appropriate and safe use of the IT infrastructure.
The successful IT Helpdesk Technician must have a thorough knowledge of computer software, hardware, and a variety of internet applications, networks, and operating systems. The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities and strong attention to detail. Our goal is to build and maintain an updated and efficient computer system and network that optimizes the role of technology in business sustainability.
Responsibilities:
· Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers, etc.).
· Regularly check computer hardware (HDD, mouses, keyboards, etc.) to ensure functionality.
· Perform remote or in-person program installation and OS setting changes to program specifications.
· Install and configure appropriate software and functions.
· Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance.
· Ensure the security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
· Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
· Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work.
· Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging, etc.).
· Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders.
· Other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Post Secondary education in technology or computer science.
· 3 years of proven experience as IT Technician or relevant.
· Proficient with Windows OS.
· Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
· In-depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks.
· Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Attention to detail.
· Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
· Experience with SQL and operating systems, enterprise backup, and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring an asset.
· Knowledge of Linux, VMWare, Desktop Virtualization, and remote office support.
