Job Description
Reporting to Executive Director the Marketing and Communications Summer Student will work closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator to develop and implement a social media strategy, special event support, coordination of agency and donor relations, marketing and communications support and administrative support.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary studies in the field of Marketing and Communications, Content Creation or Public Relations, or mature high school student going into post-secondary in one of these fields
- Proficient in the English language, additional languages appreciated
- High understanding of social media
- An understanding of video marketing
- An excellent researcher
- Ability to express oneself orally and in writing at a post-secondary level
- Highly proficient in Word, Excel and database management.
- Between the ages of 15 to 30
- Registered as a full time student during the preceding academic year, 2023 to 2024
- Registered as a full time student with the intent to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year, 2024 to 2025

- Flexible and able to work with a calming presence
- Self-motivated with exceptional work ethic
- Ability to work with little supervision
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Must be willing to work flexible hours
- Current Police Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
Opportunities for Professional Development:
The student will gain non-clinical experience in communications and marketing, fundraising, volunteer services, database management, and program development
Training will be provided in the following areas; Work Place Health and Safety, Human Resource, and Introduction to Working within Hospice Palliative Care.
The Marketing and Communication Student will assist with/take leadership on:
- Development and Implementation of a Social Media Strategy
- Working closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator, create a calendar of social media posts for the next 12 months
- Consult with all departments to develop relevant, engaging and timely social media posts
- Content Creation including Reels and short videos
- Research social media trends and industry related content
- Develop strategies to attract new interactions on social media
- Provide copywriting and imagery for post
- Event and Donor Management Support
- Database Management
- Special event support
- Creation of promotional items
- Organization Administrative Support
- Photocopying
- Filing
- Organizing of office spaces
