Our Society has operated numerous diverse community and family-focused programs that are designed to address the unique needs of the Northwest region of Alberta since 1972. Currently, we offer services in partnership with Alberta Health Services and Alberta Human Services.

Role and Responsibilities:
The role of the Developmental Support Worker is to provide and help coordinate client centered support services to individuals identified as living with a developmental disability with significant specializations. Developmental Support Workers will report to, and work alongside, the Program Manager at their designed home program to develop and implement individualized programming to assist individuals in reaching goals created for them by themselves, their guardians, their educators or a combination of the three. Developmental Support Workers will do this by utilizing a variety of skills and techniques to teach life and independent living skills to the individuals in an out of home, or In-home placement.
Developmental Support Workers will adapt a team approach when supporting individuals, ensuring that clients are making decisions based on pre-determined rules and guidelines designed to encourage independence, promote personal growth, and maintain safety. They will connect the individual and the individual’s family to community services and programs in the community as needed.
This position includes variable hours and shifts, including but not limited to; day shifts and
awake night shifts. In addition to this, all employees may take on different roles and work
shifts at variable locations and programs within the agency if the need arises.
