Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role

Position: Mine Utility Operator

Schedule: Shift 7/7 – 12-hour days and nights

Position Reports To: Mine Utility Supervisor

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a dedicated and hard working individual to join our team as a Utility Operator. The role of the Utility Operator is to support the Mine Opeations team through various activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring proper protocols are followed with various tasks within the Utility team and ensuring a safe work environment. This is an entry level position, no prior experience is needed. The successful applicant will recieve on the job training to aquire the necessary skills and knowledge required for the position. We are looking for an applicant who will have great attendance, positive work attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Preference will be given to local residents of the Rainy River District.
Key Responsibilities

Utility work includes dewatering, Geo/Combi fabric placement, and road construction.
Pit sump management, Pre-inspections and fueling on diesel water pumps.
Manual labour including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
Work with supervisor on drill pattern prep to be sure these are up to standard.
Operate mining equipment as needed in a safe and efficient manner, perform pre-operational checks and regularly cleans, lubricates and refills equipment to ensure the equipment runs safely and efficiently.
Surface mine labour support and other activities to ensure safe, efficient and productive surface mining operations

Qualifications

Grade 12 diploma / GED preferred
Valid Drivers’ License
Previous experience operating heavy equipment ie) wheel loader, excavator, diesel water pumps, Fusion Machine in an open pit mining operation is considered an asset
Completed Ontario Common Core Training or equivalent is an asset
First Aid / Mine Rescue Training is considered an asset
Strong communication skills
Demonstrate safety is essential in this role
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and signage
Ability to think and act decisively
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Physically fit with the ability to perform physical labour
