Oakville Golf Club is seeking a Facilities Support Staff/Porter who is a dedicated, detail oriented and hardworking individual to join our dynamic, fun and energetic team.
Summary
The purpose of this role is to support the Food & Beverage and Maintenance staff. To perform custodial duties within the Oakville Golf Club clubhouse, storage facilities and the immediate areas surrounding these buildings. To maintain these areas to the highest level and provide safe conditions for staff, members, and guests. To assist the Food & Beverage staff with room setups and tear downs.
They report directly to the Assistant General Manager and/or General Manager and work closely with the Food & Beverage Manager.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Clubhouse
- Replenish towels on a regular basis.
- Empty all garbages on a regular basis – end of night is mandatory in all areas.
- Take all garbage to the bins.
- Ensure all walkways and club stairs are free of debris/leaves and snow.
- Salt walkways/stairs as required.
- Dust high areas/windows and lights as required.
- Vacuum, mop and sweep areas as required.
- Cleans, polishes and maintains all surfaces, furniture and fixtures.
- Change light bulbs to maintain proper/suitable illumination in all areas including clubhouse, storage, walkways and parking area.
- Provide upkeep, repair along with painting of walls and trim throughout buildings.
- Ensures proper care in the use, storage and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace and environmental practices.
- Keep control of inventory and maintain par stocks.
- Be available for opening/closing the club as required.
- Assist in arranging any contracts or giving direction to these related contractors
- Inform managers of the need for repairs or additions to all areas of Oakville Golf Club property.
Changeroom/Washroom Areas
- Regularly check on the Changerooms and washrooms for cleanliness.
- Top up all soaps, replenish toilet paper and paper towels.
- Sweep and or mop as required.
- Wipe down counters and clean mirrors when necessary.
- Check on the cleanliness of the shower areas.
- Regularly wash and fold all towels to Club standard.
- Replenish shower towels as required.
Food & Beverage
- Assist in the set up and tear down of events.
- Assist in the set up and tear down of buffets/food stations.
- Understand table numbers and run food for servers.
- Assist Servers with clearing plates, glasses etc in busy periods.
- Replace Kegs and remove empty kegs to the storage areas.
- Ensure all empty bottles/cans are separated and placed in the storage areas.
- Assist in putting away beverage deliveries.
- Wipe down tables / chairs as required.
- From time to time assist the Kitchen as a dishwasher/helper.
This position is not limited to these specific tasks. Other duties may be required upon request.
Requirements
- Knowledge of how to work and perform duties within the hospitality industry (preferred).
- Experience in building maintenance and fostering relative relationships with fellow staff, suppliers or any other outside service provider.
- Maintain the high service standards expected at the Oakville Golf Club.
- Updated certification in WHMIS, health and safety and related legislated certifications
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to take on responsibility and use initiative to prioritize and work effectively, and when necessary, under pressure to tight deadlines.
Physical Requirements
- Considerable physical activity. Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of heavy objects.
- Work environment may involve some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.
- Must be able to lift 75llbs.
Working Conditions
The job is a full-time position that requires irregular shifts, periodically. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
