JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Director Controllership.
Reporting to the VP, Business Planning & Reporting, the Director Controllership will play a key leadership role responsible for driving finance/business systems design and digital transformation. This position will be accountable for the business planning, financial management, accounting function and performance management processes and financial forecast that are critical to driving the financial sustainability of OPG.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead and manage the Controllership function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards.
- Strategic thought leadership in designing and executing business and technology transformation programs.
- Overseeing the implementation and integration of ERP systems, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal disruption to financial processes.
- Collaborating with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to solve business problems through review of processes, systems, data and tools.
- Support optimization of OPG's Finance function to provide high quality support with benchmarked efficiency, directing improvements within the Controllership area.
- Provide strategic financial guidance and analysis to senior management, supporting decision-making processes and ensuring financial objectives are met.
- Provide oversight to ensure appropriate processes, accounting policies, and internal controls are in place to achieve business unit objectives, appropriately manage risks, and comply with regulatory and securities commission reporting requirements.
- Oversee the business planning and budgeting processes and work with client area leadership to ensure that the business plan is aligned with corporate direction and vision and that risks to the business plan are identified and managed.
- Work in an integrated manner with financial counterparts to ensure alignment and to ensure approved controls and processes are in place for effective financial management.
- Work closely with external auditors to facilitate successful audits and address any issues or recommendations identified.
- Lead team to desired results through strategic leadership, promoting cross-functional collaboration, instilling performance excellence, and demonstrating personal excellence in these behaviours.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or engineering. A Master of Business Analytics or Business Administration (MBA) is preferred. Professional designations (CFA, CPA/CA).
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years of progressive experience in business planning, financial management/forecasting or accounting function, with experience in a senior executive-level position(s).
- 8 years of management experience effectively leading, influencing and motivating a team of finance and accounting resources.
- Experience working with or leading business analysts to elicit robust program requirements through a variety of means (discovery sessions, process mapping, hackathons, BRD building).
- Familiarity with agile practices (eg, scrum, kanban) and product management practices including backlogging, wireframing, proof of concept designing and minimum viable product.
- Experience with prioritization frameworks and principles that focus on value generation and with an ability to oversee and provide recommendations on the backlog of Finance-specific initiatives.
- Experience working through large system upgrades or implementations such as ERP, CPM, data lake/warehouse and Business Intelligence.
- Experience working with large datasets, enterprise data models, data schemas and common practices in data design and governance.
- Experience advising business stakeholders and a team on business planning and financial management strategies.
- Proven experience driving financial performance and demonstrated success leading in a complex, dynamic and demanding environment.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and progressive and diverse experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting, and reporting is required.
- Engaged leader who works collaboratively, leverages the team's strengths and encourages development and new approaches to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; experience in building and maintaining productive relationships and partnerships across the business with various stakeholders internally and externally.
- Track record of achieving success and delivering results within all facets of planning & reporting including in the use of innovative technology, while providing valuable input and advice to the finance and business leadership teams.
