Position Summary

As an Analyst-Time and Labour within our Business Systems Department, you will be responsible for the functional development, support and utilization of the PeopleSoft Time and Labour module, and for the utilization of other internal financial systems, including working on projects that implement new functionality, improve existing functionality and streamline business processes.


Responsibilities


What will your typical day look like?

  • Analyzes, develops and implements improvements in processes and workflows relating to Time and Labour. Identifies gaps, areas of improvement and/or change and develops new Time and Labour processes and management reports. Designs and executes test plans (unit, functional, integration, performance and regression) related to upgrades or customizations to ensure all processes are operational and data integrity is maintained.
  • Researches and implements new Time and Labour functionality and financial system requirements in response to legislative and Collective Agreement changes, technological changes and management defined business requirements resulting from, but not limited to, Human Resources Management System (HRMS) projects.
  • Establishes and strengthens internal financial control by maintaining and validating timekeeping audits and controls, using information from Time and Labour and Financials databases; interprets payable time to ensure consistency with business rules. Analyzes, assesses, implements and modifies controls and/or business processes to ensure data integrity.
  • Develops operational and management reports as required in response to internal and external inquiries.
  • Troubleshoots and researches PeopleSoft Time and Labour system problems. Provides analytical support and technical advice to users and other staff members. Liaises with PRP HRMS personnel, PRP Information Technology Services and Region of Peel Information Systems and Technology Services as required for problem solving and technical support.
  • Develops training materials and application user manuals; delivers end user training as required.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications

You are someone with:

  • University Degree in Business Administration or Information Systems or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of three years directly related experience with timekeeping and financial systems required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business concepts and requirements as applicable to a finance/timekeeping department
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PeopleSoft Human Resources Management System (HRMS)
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Time and Labour module preferred
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft/SQL query reporting
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of related computer applications pertinent to the function
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Crystal Reports, XML Publishing
  • Demonstrated analytical, audit, research and problem solving skills
  • Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills

What we offer

The salary range for this temporary, full-time position is $66,365.00 - $111,818.00 per annum based on a 35 hours/week work schedule. Peel Regional Police offers a highly competitive compensation package; applicants will be considered for the top end of the range ($98,400.00 – $111,818.00) based on experience and education. The length of this temporary assignment is approximately 1 year.
