The Research, Accountability and Intergovernmental Affairs Division of the CPS Branch works to enable informed decisions through collaborative partnerships, quality information, and expert analysis and advice that create the conditions for a dynamic and resilient labour market.

About Our Opportunity

Are you seeking an opportunity to inform and influence government’s approach on a variety of labour related issues? Do you want to join a supportive and dedicated team working in a dynamic policy environment? Do you enjoy fostering collaborative networks, designing solutions to complex problems, and developing team members? If so, this is an exciting opportunity for you to explore as a Manager with the Research, Accountability and Intergovernmental Affairs Division. We take a “people first” approach with our team and our work and strive to build relationships based on kindness, respect, and collaboration.

Reporting to the Director, the Manager will lead the Accountability and Intergovernmental Affairs unit within the Research, Accountability and Intergovernmental Affairs Division. This includes the provision of quality decision support services to department leadership, ensuring alignment with government priorities, and inspiring the best in team members. You will have a consultative and advisory role in the development of policies and programs from an intergovernmental perspective and development of departmental monitoring and reporting systems. The Manager will lead and support a high-performing team of analysts and manage the human resource and budget functions of the unit.

On the accountability side, this further includes managing various requests for data and information, the Department’s Accountability Report and Auditor General reporting, and developing tools and processes that enable a robust department-wide approach to communicating performance.

On the intergovernmental side, this further includes making strategic connections across various levels, departments and jurisdictions, representing the province on intergovernmental forums, and negotiating the development of provincial policy positions.

Qualifications and Experience

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a Bachelors’ degree plus several years of progressive experience in leading and engaging others and expertise in policy and data analysis or an acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience.

As the ideal candidate you have proven experience convening and developing others, fostering evidence-based decision making, and influencing organizational change. You have demonstrated a high level of initiative and systems thinking, love of leadership and learning, and the ability to manage several priority initiatives concurrently, with a focus on continuous improvement. You take an active interest in understanding others’ perspectives, assessing alignment and mitigating risk, and have exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal). You are committed to growth and working in an environment that values inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility. You further have knowledge and experience with intergovernmental affairs; public sector accountability; and advising senior/executive leadership on complex issues. A general understanding of internal government processes and labour market issues, plus active engagement in intergovernmental forums are assets.
