We are a custom drapery workroom that specializes in manufacturing perfect drapery, shades, bench seats and pillows in Mississauga, Ontario. We are currently looking for a multitasking production assistant to add to our team. Do you love crafting or creating with your hands? This may be the job for you! Each day you will be met with new fabrics and an array of tasks to complete to support the production staff. This may include cutting and labeling fabric orders, assisting with assembling of panels, receiving and labeling raw materials like fabric bolts and drapery hardware, shipping out completed orders, taking stock fabric inventory and machine sewing (not required but an asset)

The candidate must work well in a small group, as we are a small staff of 8 and treating others with respect is a must. We all work together to complete our tasks in our 4 day work week (36hrs) and enjoy our long weekends. The ideal candidate is someone who has a positive and friendly attitude, who is eager to learn and has a genuine interest in interior design, fashion, fabrics, or sewing. This is a great starting off point to then grasp our specific way of manufacturing. All training is paid.

Job Responsibilities:

• Read and understand production tickets in English for each order
• Cut all types of fabrics accurately ready for sewing with rotary blade or scissors
• Update fabric inventory for each item cut
• Assist with assembly of drapery (tabling)
• Hand sewing (finishing) of completed items
• Shipping/Receiving of raw materials and completed orders
• Multitask and assist all elements of drapery production
• Maintain a clean work space

Skills Required:

• Ability to apply practical math
• Understanding of inches and yards
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
• Fabric cutting skills: scissors, rotary blade
• Good use of practical math
• Basic sewing knowledge
• Skills with sewing machines is an asset
• Hand sewing skills
• Ability to lift 50lb/25kg bolts of fabric
• Interest in learning all aspects of drapery production
• A keen attention to detail
• Ability to be on feet for 9 hour shifts

Our hours are Monday-Thursday 7am-4:30pm

Must have reliable transportation to and from work 4 days a week to west end of Mississauga.

***Candidate must be currently residing in Canada. We will not be hiring out of country***

First step is an in-person interview, followed by a test shift/skills test.

Rate of pay is based on experience in drapery cutting and all types of sewing. Full training will be provided for the right person.

Salary: $18.00-$24.00 per hour
