Winter Caretaker

We are seeking an experienced Winter Caretaker to join The Outpost in Port Louis on Graham Island. This role is perfect for an individual or a couple looking to manage and maintain a remote lodge during the winter season.

Position Overview

As the Winter Caretaker you will oversee the operation and maintenance of The Outpost property during the winter months. It requires a hands-on approach to ensure the lodge runs smoothly and remains in excellent condition.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the mechanical operations of the lodge, including diesel generators, R/O systems, electrical, plumbing, gas fitting, furnaces, carpentry, and appliances.
• Plan and execute maintenance projects and improvements during the off-season.
• Ensure the lodge is well-maintained and operational.
• Manage and schedule any additional caretakers or temporary help as needed.
• Report directly to the General Manager with regular updates and maintenance reports.

Requirements

• Experience with diesel generators, plumbing and gas fitting, carpentry, R/O water systems, electrical systems, and equipment operations.
• Proven ability to manage and maintain a remote lodge over the course of a season.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Great work ethic and a team player mentality.
• Previous experience in remote locations.
• Red Seal/Journeyman certification in a relevant trade is preferred.
