Business Operations Analyst ¿ Research Finance

Position Description

We are currently looking for a unique role that combines excellent analyst capabilities with a strong ability to use and transform data into information that drives operational decisions and provides analytical insight. In this position, you will report to the Manager of Business Operations Support Services (BisOpSS), and you will be responsible for assisting on a variety of strategic initiatives to support the ongoing growth of the Research Awards and Financial Services (RAFS) team. Projects can cover a variety of areas, from hospital-wide strategic initiatives impacting the Research Awards and Financial services team to in-depth financial analysis of programs and departments in the Research Institute.

Here¿s What You¿ll Get to Do:

  • Develop effective and efficient ways of utilizing hospital systems and data to prepare and present vital operational information to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Assist with the design, roll-out, and maintenance of data query and MS Power BI services to enhance strategic operational reporting for the Research Institute.
  • Develop SQL and Python code to extract data from financial tracking systems (PeopleSoft/Azure) for utilization in reporting and Power BI dashboards.
  • Assist with expense report review, expense reasonability investigations, reporting and communications for overdue purchase credit card transactions.
  • Support and facilitate the review and update of RI policies, including coordination with various Research Operation departments.
  • Support with training and development tasks such as finalizing training materials, setting up training sessions for online sign-up, communication, conducting surveys for feedback, etc.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Here's What You'll Need:

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor¿s degree in business administration, commerce, data or computer science, or equivalent.
  • Excellent analytical skills, data and technical literacy, and understanding of core statistics concepts.
  • Problem-solving skills, out of box thinking, drive for innovation and ability to execute ideas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and actions to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives.

Assets
  • Experience with SQL, DAX, ETL (Power Query), and a scripting language (e.g. Python).
  • Experience in both data modeling and warehousing.
  • Prior experience with Power BI.
  • Effective interpersonal skills in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to design, analyze, and prepare financial reports.
  • Prior experience working with PeopleSoft Fin/SCM and/or HCM (version 9.2).
  • Project Management experience (ex. experience in leading a job-related project).
  • High proficiency in MS Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Experience creating and presenting impactful presentations.

Employment Type: 1.00 FTE, FT permanent

Location: Hybrid with initial onboarding and occasional in person days in the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research & Learning at 686 Bay Street, Toronto.
