Position Description


As a member of the Pharmacy Department, the responsibilities of the Pharmacy Stores Associate position include the functions associated with inventory control of medications, receiving, and storage of pharmaceuticals, distribution of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy supplies to other pharmacy areas, and related paperwork to and from all Pharmacy areas. It includes maintaining a clean work and drug storage environment.

Shifts: Alternating weekends 9 am to 5 pm

Although this posting indicates an initial area of assignment and shift, the Hospital reserves the right to assign to other areas of assignment and shifts as deemed necessary.

Here's What You'll Get To Do:

  • Receive and unpack pharmaceuticals and supplies and compare to Purchase Order
  • Place and/or deliver pharmaceuticals and supplies to appropriate storage areas
  • Fill and deliver pharmaceutical/supply list requests to appropriate areas
  • Gather dirty bins from pharmacy areas to be cleaned and clean pharmacy shelving as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Here's What You'll Need:

  • Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy setting is essential
  • Knowledge of inventory control and ordering systems is desirable
  • Successful completion of the Hospital's Pharmacy Stores Associate skills and competencies assessment.
  • Frequent standing, lifting and carrying of mostly under 1 kg items, but some are up to 10 kg
  • Daily pushing/pulling of carts carrying about 5-15 kg of goods
  • Must be physically capable to lift heavy objects intermittently
  • May need to periodically wear N95 mask and/or other safety protection equipment deemed necessary by Occupational Health and Safety Department as well as complete WHMIS training
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written in English
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficiency with computer work; ensuring data entry of Lot numbers and Expiry dates of medications are accurate
  • A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion.
