The Role: Buying Team – Assistant Buyer – Full-Time
The Silver Icing Assistant Buyer plays an integral role in contributing to the overall success of both the buying and warehouse receiving operations. The Assistant Buyer will be responsible for product related data entry, vendor communication, product scheduling and oversee quality & fit control of all inbound products.
Responsibilities Responsible for overall Purchase Order management, including:
Accurate order processing, scheduling and delivery and confirming received shipments
Assist in placing orders and inputting corresponding details into our proprietary software and project management software
Management of product scheduling and receiving scheduler
Gather and organize samples for buying and marketing use. Ensure all sizes required are available for planning and subsequent return to inventory.
Vendor follow up relating to shipment confirmation, scheduled delivery and shipment inconsistencies
Communicating purchase order changes to all involved parties and any required follow up
Maintains and provides sales metrics to the buyers to consider future buying commitments and trends
Maintain departmental reports and records
Assist the Receiving Team in review and examination of product samples and confirmed quantities for quality and fit
Active in our community providing answering product related questions
Liaise with vendors and place orders, resolver order/product issues
Occasionally assist with pick up of local shipments and orders.
Assist in preparation and participate in special events throughout the year.
Experience with garment design and development, including pattern making and work with domestic and offshore factories, considered beneficial
Experience with women’s and children’s fashion, an asset
Some travel required
Provide occasional support in our warehouse operations such as picking, packing, shipping
Optional and beneficial: Understanding of customs and duties process for import and export. Managing customs clearance for Silver Icing.
Qualifications
2 years related working experience in a similar role
Post-secondary education in fashion preferred
Intermediate knowledge of Excel (formulas and possibly Pivot Table, vlookup, etc.)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Extremely organized with the ability to multitask and work under deadline
A self-starter, strong ability to take initiative
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge and experience with online, retail, merchandising or product development processes
