Position: Summer Experience Program - Outreach Assistant (Full-Time) Temporary Student Position
Location: Central Library
Job Summary: The Outreach Assistant will focus on connecting with library customers at outreach opportunities, the Kids Ultimate Challenge and Library pop-ups in local parks, as well as assisting with class visits to promote the Summer Reading Club (SRC) – a reading contest for all ages held system-wide from June-August 2024. The Assistant will also provide assistance with SRC registration.
Requirements:
1. All students must be currently enrolled in a secondary, or post-secondary institution or within six months of graduation and have reached the age of 15 upon commencement of employment.
2. Proof of student enrolment must be provided to the employer.
3. Students must be residents of Ontario during the period of employment.
4. Students must be eligible to work in Canada and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).
5. Be currently enrolled in post-secondary education, preferably in a program related to children or library services, and returning to school full time in the fall.
6. Experience working with children and/or youth
7. Student will need access to a car in order to attend various outreach events, school visits and library branches.
Hours of Work: Weekdays, 35 hours weekly for minimum of 6 weeks (232 hours), including weekends starting June 3, 2024. Position could be extended up to 12 weeks.
Hourly Rate: $16.55 per hour (Minimum Wage over 18 years of age)
