ADMINISTRATION: DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

Tallcree Tribal Government – EDUCATION Division, North Tallcree, AB
Tallcree Education Division requires a Director of Education who would begin as soon as available
for the 2024-2025 Academic Year. Transitional Onboarding for new position to begin immediately upon arrival.
There are two schools under the division:
Chief Tallcree High School in North Tallcree, AB, and
South Tallcree Elementary School located in South Tallcree, AB.
There are approximately 140 students and 50 professional and support staff.
The picturesque communities of Tallcree are located in northern Alberta along highway 88 near Fort Vermilion (approximately 6 hours north of Edmonton).
THE POSITION WILL BE OPEN UNTIL FILLED.
**Subsidized accommodations include full utilities.
SALARY: $126,500
PLUS a SIGNING BONUS of $3000.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Alberta Teaching Certificate.
· Master of Education (M.Ed.),
· Proficiency in the use of educational technology,
· At least 5 Years of Teaching and Administrative experience,
· Understanding of assessment for learning,
· Ability to work as part of a team.
RESPONSIBILITIES AS DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION
The Director of Education is responsible for the onsite management of Tallcree Educational Programs within Tallcree Education Division:
• HeadStart (Early Childhood Program)
• South Tallcree Elementary School
• Chief Tallcree High School
• Post-Secondary Education Programs
• Community Education and Training Programs
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• To be committed to and lead a learner-centered philosophy
• Manage the acquisition and reporting of funding resources
• Participate in the supervision and evaluation of teachers
• Participate in the hiring process for new teachers
• Oversee and evaluating programs offered by the Division;
• Oversee the student evaluation processes and ensuring that students have the opportunity to meet the standards set by Alberta Learning;
• Supervise schools’ instructional programs and curriculum including ensuring the effective use of the available resources by teachers and compliance with applicable Alberta Learning standards;
• Maintain safety, order, and discipline relating to schools, school grounds, and any activity sponsored or approved by the Education Division;
• Foster common goals among students, teachers, staff, parents, community members, the Tallcree Board of Education and Tallcree Leadership;
• Manage the physical and financial resources allocated to the education program and schools;
• Establish effective communication between schools and communities, including promoting cooperation between schools and communities regarding educational endeavors;
• Supervise Head Start program and staff;
• Supervise post-secondary students and the Tallcree Post-Secondary Education Program;
