In a typical day, YOU will:
- Responsible for the procurement of parts, specifically related to Caterpillar, for the entire company (50 stores). On an annual basis there are over 820,000 lines and $273,000M (USD) of inventory purchased and distributed throughout the branches network. Included in the process is making critical key decisions on how much to order and distribute to the 50 branches and delivering several key management reports.
- Work the key inventory reports which has a direct impact on the performance of the inventory – aged stock orders, outstanding transfers (ICT’s), aged parts documents, and cycle counts. Included in this will be the processing of the bi-yearly Caterpillar surplus return ($12M annually) and regular stock levelling of the inventory throughout the branch network. Both of these function have a significant impact on the reduction of non performing parts inventory and expenses.
- Work with the branches on customer ‘Buy Back’ return requests – determine eligibility, customer buy back pricing, parts distribution based on analysis, and issue sundry customer credit note based on final analysis.
- Identify the inventory requirements, by branch, for CAT parts that are eligible to be placed as planned stock orders (3-4 months out). Based on the analysis, stock order to CAT (CPRO, FDO) using detailed guidelines and processes – PEM module. Monthly reviews are required to ensure on time delivery. This will have a significant impact on reducing emergency expenses (currently over 40% of purchases) and improve customer satisfaction.
- Update, monitor, and review the consignment inventory accounts. Ensure the inventory levels are accurate thru yearly inventory counts.
- Build and foster a working relationship with Caterpillar and the key players in each branch (Supervisors and PSSM) to become a trusted source of information and guidance for strategic parts decisions.
Must-haves for this role:
- Knowledge with AS/400, experienced with Excel, Power BI, Power Query and comfortable with the analysis of data sets
- Working knowledge of DBS parts system
- Knowledge of Inventory control policies and procedures
- Good interpersonal skills and decision making skills – TEAM player
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills – takes initiative
- Knowledge of mining products an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a TEAM environment as well as independently
- Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in a parts sales or distribution environment
- Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in business or office administration
