Position Information

With an annual budget of over $1B, the Ottawa Hospital is a large complex organization, one of the largest of its kind in Canada.
The Financial Analyst – Accounting is responsible for analyzing all aspects of the Balance Sheet, with a focus on current assets and liabilities, at the Ottawa Hospital. This position is responsible for calculating and recording complex transactions, and tracking cash, receivable, payable/deferred balances associated with funding. They will also assist in continuous process improvements through providing productive feedback and recommending efficiencies where identified.
The Financial Analyst – Accounting will support financial reporting processes while interacting with a variety of stakeholders from cross-functional teams, including management, and external stakeholders. They will prepare journal entries, analyze and reconcile accounts and data for accuracy and integrity to assist management in making decisions, and producing quality data for financial statements. They will also review journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis prepared by accountants as necessary. Additionally, they will support the Director and Manager, Accounting in any special ad hoc requests such as new or one-time reporting requirements and investigating and resolving issues.

Rotation/Shifts

Days, 8 hour shifts.

Basic Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree or College Diplomas in Commerce/or Accounting;
  • CPA (CA/CMA/CGA) or working towards completion, or equivalent experience in a finance environment;
  • Experience in financial analysis in a large, complex environment;
  • Proficient with spreadsheets and reporting tools;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated through collaborative & productive relationships with various stakeholders and partners;
  • Results oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and effectively manage time to successfully meet strict deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with a large ERP financial system (ORACLE).
