Tofino Hostel / Whalers Guesthouse is looking for an entry level general maintenance and support worker. The ideal candidate will have a wide range of working skills and interest in general maintenance work. Previous maintenance experience is required.
Start Date: April 15, 2025
The position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
- Daily Groundskeeping & Landscaping: e.g. Clearing of eves troughs, sweeping hostel grounds, weeding, etc.
- Facility Maintenance: Painting, drywalling, cleaning, and tackling repairs in guestrooms, bathrooms, hallways, and common areas, troubleshooting and resolving plumbing issues, etc.
- Preventative Maintenance: Performing regular preventative maintenance in line with our daily/weekly/monthly maintenance schedules.
- Sewer Lift Station: Maintaining and troubleshooting pumps, switches, floats, grinder blades, and related parts. Experience is an asset, but we provide training for sewage pump and related component care.
- Specialized Maintenance: Carpentry, tiling, equipment repair, HVAC, electrical work and more—experience is an asset!
- Arranging and coordinating the work of contractors and repair services.
- Bike Maintenance: Tuning up our rental bike fleet.
- Team Support: Help with housekeeping during busy days and other duties as needed.
